It's that time again. The time of year that reminds me that I've lost touch with the horse world. The Kentucky Derby and the rest of the Triple Crown are looming and I've been working for a year and a half, but I'm yet to do what I said I would with the money, get back into lessons. Well, now I have more free time and no class, but unfortunately, no job after June and only intermittent work until then. And lack of transportation means that money for lessons would almost double, as horses aren't allowed in the city limits. Add to all of this the flood of emotions a simple post about muck boots set off when combined with my current reading material (Wild Ride by Ann Hagedorn Auerbach) and the news of the Rolex Kentucky, which supposedly is being televised after the Derby, editing should be fun, and I'm feeling a need to get back in the saddle. This is despite my hatred of summer riding and the fact that I haven't been in any saddle in four years and an English saddle since high school. As much fun as baseball was, I miss the riding I gave up on then. A discussion I had with Daddy this year didn't help things, when he said he was advised to never buy as horse, but then I pointed out that the expense wouldn't have been as bad since I never got/may never get a car. That fact doesn't help things one iota. Add to this my being defriended by one of my LJ friends through whom I enjoyed horse stories, and I'm feeling the need to even things out. I just wish I knew how.
