November 1st

I'm flying high after a night of political fun. Michael Moore came back to town, but this time, he brought a circus. The Goo Goo Dolls did a set to open for him, including "Iris" and "Broadway", then in the middle of his screaming speech, Moore introduced Roseanne Barr to do her comedy routine on Dubya including his "deficit attention disorder". It was good, if a bit sarcastic for my tastes. Then, later, Moore brought out guests I didn't know were coming. First, three diplomats (Ann Wright, Brady Kiesling, and John Bown)spoke about leaving the administration over the war. Then, the founder of Iraq Veterans Against War, Tim Goodrich spoke to us about the fact that the perception that the military all backs Bush is bullshit. And finally, the Goo Goo Dolls closed down the Civic Center.

This time around it was a bigger deal, even though I'd already heard him speak, because I was helping make it possible. I ushered while others in the College Democrats took donations (the total of which Moore said he's match) to help pay for renting the Civic Center. The presidents of FSU, FAMU, and TCC College Democrats all spoke to open the event. It went off without a hitch, but my feet were killing me at the end of the night. Standing for five hours in dress boots is not a good idea. I'm tired, but I may add more details later.
